Journalist's Report
Guerric de Crombrugghe Reporting

ENGLISH

It seems that nobody is paying attention to our April Fool prank. Come on
guys : there is a sign of the Dharma Station on the webcams!

Another day on Mars.
This morning I woke up with a question : Where are we? Candor Chasma?
Tharsis Montes?
Somewhere on a ball of 1,448.10^8 km^2. I guess the
first martianauts will be better informed than we are.

We had three EVA's :
MORNING
- Boris and I repaired the door of the Hab : it had been difficult to
close. Now we can close it, but we have some problems opening it. What
a success! Lesson learned : avoid as much as possible physical effort
on a sunny midday.
AFTERNOON
- Jan and Céline made a nice film called "About the sterlized sampling
of halophiles". Don't miss it!

- Jan, Céline and Violette finally went to do so many things that I
won't be able to note everything, while Elnaz was doing Mission
Support.

I spent my free afternoon playing with the radiotelescope. He has not
much conversation (little noises at 20.1 MHz), but we have fun
together.
Jan and I are preparing a radiation emergency simulation. We'll use the
radiotelescope as a solar burst detector. Since the solar wind (84 000
km/s) is slower than the radio signal (300 000 km/s), we calculated
that the martianauts will have a certain delay to protect themselves :
from 29 min 30 s (perihelion) to 35 min 30 s (aphelion).

Mars the Red, Mars the Green, Mars the Blue : the martian flag.
Shall we one day terraform Mars? As I see the landscape around the
MDRS, I hope we won't : Mars the Virgin must be so beautiful.
